What we do

The African Health Innovation Centre
implements programming in Ghana and beyond

AHIC believes in infusing innovation and entrepreneurship into traditional health delivery, creating connections at the community and system levels, and empowering a new generation of thought leaders and action-takers.

Through five core delivery areas, AHIC incubates, advises, convenes, trains, and explores to build a healthier Africa.
AHIC believes that real, transformative change requires buy-in, capacity building, and co-creation with communities. This requires collaboration with diverse partners including government, academia, corporates, UN agencies, community-based organisations, hospitals and healthcare providers, and the startup ecosystem to build trust, identify pain points, and enable cross-sector ideation through a systems thinking approach.

Market Entry
and Ecosystem Tours

AHIC frequently schedules and coordinates health ecosystem tours for local, regional, and international partners which includes planning and implementing a series of diverse site visits, conducting community entry activities, hosting pre- and post-visit discussions, and seeing some of Ghana’s best sites. Ecosystem tours span across a variety of stakeholders and explore a specialised health topic in the context of clinical practice, development work, innovation spaces, and community-based centres. Project participants are able to exchange ideas and develop a broad understanding of similarities and differences between the Ghanaian ecosystem and their own. This process enables the exchange of best practices between organisations, and facilitated conversations about potential obstacles and expected outcomes.
